Visit Oak Habitat

More than 95% of remaining oak and prairie habitats are on private lands, with public lands representing a tiny fraction of the historical distribution of this ecosystem.

Oak and Prairie on Public Lands

Oak Prairie Work Group partners manage several sites throughout the Portland-Vancouver Intertwine region that have undisturbed oak-rich habitat and are open to the public. These sites help to raise awareness of the significance of oak landscapes and foster new Oak Stewards across the metropolitan area. The more we connect with these landscapes, the more we can support their protection, driving action and funding to conserve them for future generations.
