The U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service is celebrating the establishment of the Nation’s 572nd national wildlife refuge, the Willamette Valley Conservation Area. The creation of this refuge marks a significant achievement in the Department of the Interior and the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service’s ongoing commitment to conservation and stewardship and is a significant step towards fulfilling the broader WV Oak and Prairie Cooperative’s mission. In addition to providing critical habitat for wildlife, plants, and fish, refuges provide opportunities for the American people to connect with lands, waters, and nature. Once complete, the new national wildlife refuge area will total approximately 22,650 acres.
