Joint Base Lewis-McChord Sentinel Landscape Resilience Specialist
This is an exciting job opportunity supporting collaborative natural resource management of prairie and oak woodlands and advancing working landscapes and agricultural viability in the South Puget Sound region.
The role of the Joint Base Lewis-McChord Sentinel Landscape (JBLM) Resilience Specialist is to collaborate closely with partners to identify, implement and accelerate collaborative projects protecting the military mission of JBLM, advancing agricultural and community resilience, and supporting prairie habitat restoration and management. This position will be part of a dynamic team developing innovative natural resource management strategies in the South Puget Sound region. The Resilience Specialist will work in close coordination with the JBLM Sentinel Landscape Coordinator, the JBLM Sentinel Landscape Working Groups/Committees, local partners, and the installation to develop collaborative, near-and long-term, resilience and adaptation projects.
The JBLM Resilience Specialist will report to LegacyWorks Group (LWG or LegacyWorks) and the JBLM Sentinel Landscape Coordinator to identify adaptation and resilience strategies in a rapidly developing region. The specialist will work with Coordinator to develop projects conserving and managing prairie habitat, working to recover ESA listed prairie species, and supporting agricultural social, economic, and community infrastructure on a regional scale. At the discretion of the Coordinator, the Resilience Specialist may work directly with Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) staff on how to utilize NRCS technical and financial assistance programs. The Resilience Specialist will assist the Coordinator in updating the implementation plans and other documents for resilience issues. This position is hybrid and will be based in or around Olympia, WA and require travel throughout South Puget Sound with additional regional and national travel.
